Florence
Elementary School brought 740 students to me in small groups. This was
in High Point N. C. and it was a high point of our spring just being in
the Piedmont regions of North Carolina for the very first time. The Jamestown Elementary students, all 540 of them used my website for a scavenger hunt. This was an innovative way to use the website, we thought. Summit School’s 450 students couldn’t have been better audiences. I enjoyed every minute and so did the. At Baucom Elementary School I spoke to 900 students in one day! I think that may be a record for. And at Cedar Fork Elementary, 740 students made Deanna and I feel like North Carolinians ourselves. The hospitality and good nature of all the teachers and librarians, volunteer parents, and the enthusiasm of the students made our month away from home seem like we had never left home. Deanna and I love seeing where my books are read and used. We covered a lot of miles driving from Vermont to Ohio and from Ohio to North Carolina but we saw more of this beautiful country of ours in every mile. Thank you Ohio and North Carolina for the drawings and posters and singing and laughing and listening and for the breakfasts, lunches, and dinners you shared with us. Thanks for making Deanna and I feel at home everywhere we went. And thanks to all the teachers, librarians, and parents who continue to share my books. |
