Included in our days in the Philadelphia area were lunches and dinners with independent bookstore owners, Bookstore chain and Publisher representatives, an evening talk with teachers and librarians, and a little free time to visit an old friend and even attend an art show.
We walked the lovely streets of Dolyestown, Pa. We enjoyed the beach in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and took in the friendly atmosphere of Atlanta, Ga.It was a non-stop marathon of booksigning, talks, visits, receptions, and dinners. I played my guitar for hours in front of appreciative audiences and told stories about the adventures Deanna and I have had in wild places.
We want to thank all involved in this book tour at Penguin/Putnam’s, Sterling, Scholastic, the bookstores, the schools, and the various media escorts who traveled us around and got us everywhere we needed to be on time. All these people made what seemed to be an impossibly ambitious schedule move smoothly and enjoyably to a very successful end. BRAVO!
I also want to mention my appreciation to all the baggage handlers who handled my guitar with care.
We launched all of the new editions of my ALL ABOUT ANIMALS series. We introduced ALL ABOUT MANATEES to the bookstores, signed many copies of THE BROOK BOOK and WILD TRACKS! And I got to meet, talk to, sign books for, play my guitar and sing songs to, and draw pictures for over 3000 enthusiastic children., teachers and librarians.
It could not have gone better! Now I look forward to a whole summer outdoors in the garden, in the woods, and on the boat!
